Chief Concerns: Stephen Brown
Not fun (or awesome)… BUT needed?
“They need a quarterback and a lot of people think Geno Smith is in that ballpark, but I don’t,” NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said. “(At No. 1 and 33 they) need to find what’s the best combination to get the best value.”
John Dorsey’s about BPA (Best Player Available), that’s his thinking.
I know of no other philosophy,” said Dorsey in January.
Three offensive lineman rank inside CBS Sports top 10, Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel (No.1), Alabama left guard Chance Warmack (No.3) and Central Michigan left tackle Eric Fisher (No.6).
Mayock included Joeckel, Warmack, Fisher as well as UNC guard Jonathan Cooper (No.22) as options for the Chiefs at No.1.
“I usually like Mayock, but he’s full of crap here,” said Shane Seeders on Chief Concerns Facebook page.
There’s logic to what Mayock says, other fans see it.
“I agree with Mayock,” said a Chief fan. “Even if we do trade for Eagles Nick Foles there’s nothing wrong with taking a QB later in the draft. There have been plenty of QB’s taken later that are good.”
It’s cluttered, the QB’s, most likely it’ll come down to the interview. Dorsey believes in it, looks for that “character” of soul.
There’s a great unknown within players,” says Dorsey. “It’s what’s inside of them. You want to lift up the hood sometimes and see what’s inside. It’s our job to lift up that hood and find out if those components fit into what you’re trying to do within an organization.”
Go safe or risky (QB)?
That hasn’t been decided… not yet, there’s still the NFL Combine. Stories will be written, new players will rise up.
Dorsey and Andy Reid will be looking “under the hood”.
Good day, Chiefs fans!
