Chief Concerns: John Munoz
It is time to continue with our Chief Concerns’ spotlight; but first I must apologize to our readers for the delay. A set of unforeseeable circumstances occurred that stalled the series.
Back in May, we started a contest to give Travis Stucky his “SuperFan” name. We received a lot of great submissions, but one stood out and fit Travis very well. It was an entry from “Tailgate Tim VanderPol” – either ARROWDREAD or TERRORHEAD. The name is due to his “dreads” that he never takes off, and the fact that opposing teams “dread” coming into to Terrorhead! According to Tailgate Tim, “Travis is an awesome fan! He’s always smiling and he always greets fans and friends alike with a handshake or a big ol’ bear hug and/or a high five. Travis never sits down. He is always on his feet cheering on the Chiefs, and he never shuts up! Go CHIEFS!!”
After a lot of deliberation and talk with friends, Travis decided to go with the name “ARROWDREAD,”
The name really does suit him; yet hold on! My fellow readers here at Chief Concerns, what’s a good story without a “plot twist” tossed into the mix? (Cue your own plot twist music here.)
Just when Travis is about to announce his new name, his grandmother comes up with a name of her own. She refers to him being “The KC Kid.” You can just imagine the turmoil that Travis is in. This is a name from his beloved Grandmother Dee, the woman that gave birth to his very own mother. In addition, it was also Dee that had helped mold Travis into the fine young man he has become. What a decision the SuperFan is now facing!
Now here I am, ready to put the finishing touches on the article to announce the new SuperFan name when my phone rings. It’s Travis and he proceeds to tell be about this new development. He is definitely torn between the two names. On one hand he really likes ARROWDREAD as it really fits him and the whole Arrowhead Mystique; and on the other you have, The KC Kid, which he also likes (and Grandma’s choice). Travis knows that I am about to release his new name and the winner of our contest and the article is all but ready to published; however he asks my opinion on which name he should go with. After thinking it over for a minute, I tell him that only he can make that decision and only he can decide which name to use. I also advised him to take a day or two and think it over and go with whatever his heart tells him to do.
After we wrapped up our conversation, I sat deep in thought for a few moments. At the time of his call I was at the gym and I was brought from my thoughts from my friend Autumn who had been working out next to me. I shared with her the situation I found myself in. She seemed to think about it for a few seconds and then says to me, “John, why not use them both?” This idea that Autumn gave me was BRILLIANT! I immediately got back on the phone and called Travis and dropped the idea on him and the rest will become “SuperFan” history.
All ye faithful of Chiefs Kingdom, I introduce to you “Arrowdread – The KC Kid” Travis Stucky. I believe this name will suit him well.
We are faced with two winners in the contest! Tim VanderPol will receive a Kansas City Chiefs football autographed by former Chiefs Head Coach Romeo Crennel, former quarterback Brodie Croyle and current running back Jamaal Charles. In addition, he will received a signed 8″ x 10″ picture of former Chiefs punter Louie Aguiar, a Kansas City Chiefs shirt and hat. As for Travis’ grandmother, she will receive even more unyielding love from her grandson.
Thank you to all that entered submissions. You really made the naming Travis Stucky Arrowdread – The KC Kid decision a difficult one.
Since you – the readers of Chief Concerns – have not yet had a chance to learn anything about Arrowdread – The KC Kid, I will follow up with another story so you can learn a little about him in the next chapter the SuperFan saga which is coming right up!
Am I Still a Chiefs Fan? Always – As Long As My Blood is Red!
